This year, I have started a new page in my life with Griffin Bay Advisors, but Griffin Bay the place will forever be tied to my family and my story.
Griffin Bay is part of the Puget Sound in Washington State, and a place I have been visiting for over 30 years. It is a place of breathtaking beauty with the sun reflecting off the cool waters of the Puget Sound, the snowy summit of Mt. Baker standing guard in the distance, and King Fishers cackling their displeasure if you get too close to their territory. When you head out on the Bay, you are often followed by seals who may watch from a distance or, if they are feeling playful, make mighty splashes to get your attention. I have spent hours walking on the beach there with my parents, looking for interesting stones with my dad and falling in love with my wife-to-be. My kids have also now been introduced to Griffin Bay, and they love climbing on the rocks, building bridges with driftwood, and swimming (yes, swimming!) in that cold but clear water.
The Griffin, which inspired the name of this special place, also has deep roots in ancient Greek mythology, making appearances in the works of Homer, Hesiod, and Ovid. This mythical creature, with the body of a lion and the head and talons of an eagle, represents a blend of strength, wisdom, and guardianship. It is often depicted as a fierce guardian of treasure and a sentinel of the lands of the gods.
